Philosophy
Coaching volleyball is more than coaching the game. I believe that the concepts of working with a team, making your needs subservient to those of the team, and striving to perform at your best in every endeavor of your life are all taught through coaching volleyball. The Bible speaks of us being many parts of one body.
This principle is also applicable to a volleyball team. I know of no other sport where each member of the team is critically involved in every moment of the game. All parts must be working together for the benefit of the whole. It is my responsibility as a coach to facilitate the harmonious working of the parts to obtain the desired results.
When I coach a team, I try my best to not mention that we must win but I will tirelessly urge that each player perform at her best. If she does so, winning is a by-product of her performance. Always play at a level that allows you to hold your head up when you come off the court. (John Wooden)
